The method of assembly of a pyrotechnic separator (10) involves placing a loaded tube (12) including an envelope (13) containing a detonating cord, into an initiator housing (20). The precharged tube and housing are welded together using spot welds (40) which are placed to form a peripheral weld collar (42) which is continuous. A part of the charged tube can then be flattened.
