Ozone treatment apparatus for chemical modification of animal fibers of continuous web form

A machine for treating animal fibers (e.g. wool) with fine bubbles of ozone to provide the fibers with shrink and pilling resistance. A web of fiber 10 is held between two mesh conveyer belts 12a, 12b that trace a V-shaped path into and out of a bath of treatment liquid. Whilst the web is passing through the bath, a stream of ozone bubbles is pumped through the web and is sucked through the web to the other side of the web by suction ports15a, b and c. This ensures the web is uniformly treated throughout the thickness of the web.
