PURPOSE: An air conditioner for a vehicle is provided to increase cooling efficiency by cooling air twice through an auxiliary cooling unit and a main cooling unit of an evaporator, and to reduce the thickness of the air conditioner by arranging the heater core and the evaporator in parallel. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner in center mounting type comprises an air conditioner case(10) having an air passage(30) for flowing air, a blower unit(2) arranged in the middle of the air conditioner case to blow air to the air passage, and an evaporator(40) and a heater core(60) arranged in the air passage. The air passage is divided into a first passage(31) passing air from the blower unit through an auxiliary cooling unit(41), and a second passage(32) communicated with the first passage to pass air from the auxiliary cooling unit to a main cooling unit(42) by a partition wall(11) extended from the wall of the air conditioner case.
