Cationic copolymers (A) formed from monomer(s) (I) containing a protonatable amine function and methylidenemalonate type comonomer(s) (II), are new. An Independent claim is included for three new specific monomers (I), i.e. 2-(2,5-diaminopentanoyloxy)-ethyl methacrylate (Ia), 1,3-diamino-2-propyl methacrylate (Ib) and 1,3-diamino-2-propyl 3-butenoate (Ic).
