PURPOSE: Poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate) fiber has excellent thermal shape stability, at least 8g/d of strength, under 8% of dry heat shrinkage(150deg.Cx30min.), over 7% of breaking elongation and 3-10 denier of single yarn fineness. The poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate) fiber is useful for a tire cord. A manufacturing method thereof is provided. CONSTITUTION: Poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate) fiber is obtained by the steps of: preparing poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate) polymer having over 0.7 of inherent viscosity; drawing the polymer; melt-spinning the polymer at 500-1500m/min. of spinning speed into fiber having 3-10denier of single yarn fineness; drawing first the fiber at 90-140deg.C in the total drawing ratio of 4.0-6.0 times; and then drawing second the fiber at 150-250deg.C.
