PURPOSE: A focus servo device of an optical instrument for a disk drive is provided to use X-Y axial bearings instead of a pivot bearing, and to dispose a driver consisting of a focusing coil and magnets in a middle portion of a pickup base, to change a position of an objective lens, thereby controlling a focus for a disk. CONSTITUTION: An operational arm(310) is combined with a pickup base(300) to move in X-Y axial directions by X-Y axial bearings(320,321). A Z-axis directional driving portion(500) for operating the operational arm(310) in Z axial direction is combined with the pickup base(300). The Z-axis directional driving portion(500) is combined with magnets(360) shared by a tracking coil(340) and a focusing coil(350) in a rear part of the pickup base(300).
