PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing traffic information are provided to improve accuracy of traffic information by providing front traffic information that is generated based on advance route information and current position information. CONSTITUTION: A route information generator(320) generates route information for a destination to store it in a database(370) and updates changed traffic information to the route information to generate new route information. A position information managing unit(330) receives current position information from a mobile communication terminal of a driver and grasps the current position information. A front traffic information generator(340) generates forward traffic information based on the current position information and advance route information grasped in the position information managing unit. A route information and traffic information transmitter(350) transmits the generated route information and traffic information.
