METHOD FOR ENCODING AND DECODING ERROR CORRECTION CODE BLOCK OF HIGH-DENSITY OPTICAL DISK

PURPOSE: A method for encoding and decoding an ECC(Error Correction Code) block of a high-density optical disk is provided to declare an eraser if a burst error which is continuous in vertical or horizontal direction exists in an ECC block, thereby minimizing an ECC error and simplifying an encoding/decoding process. CONSTITUTION: A system generates user data blocks having a predetermined recording size. The system generates a PO(Parity Outer) for a vertical data string among the user data blocks, and records at least more than one indicator flag for separately declaring an eraser for a horizontal data string at certain intervals within the user data blocks. The indicator flag is generated as many as the predetermined intervals as more than one preset 1 byte, in order to declare an eraser of information data included within the predetermined intervals.
