PURPOSE: A resume play control method in an optical disk device is provided to store/manage current recording position information and operation control information as resume play control information, and to search a previous recording position in reference to the resume play control information, then to re-perform a previous operation, so that a user can simply re-operate an optional previous process. CONSTITUTION: While a microcomputer reads/plays video data and audio data(S10), a key input is received from a new user(S11). The microcomputer temporarily stores final recording position information and operation control information(S12). If a key input is received from another user(S15), and if a resume play key is inputted(S16), the microcomputer retrieves the final recording position information and the first play speed control information as the resume play control information(S16). The microcomputer searches a final recording position, and re-performs the first play speed operation in the final recording position(S17).
