PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to achieve improved thermal efficiency and reduce a power consumption by preventing thermal losses caused due to a heat radiation. CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube comprises a sleeve(43) for accommodating a heater; a gas metal(42) fixed at the top of the sleeve, and which has an emitter(41) deposited with an electron radiation material; and a holder(45) for accommodating the sleeve. The value of H-(C+D) is selected in the range of 0.4 to -0.6, wherein H is the height of the color cathode ray tube, C is the height of the gas metal, and D is the length of the holder.
