Selection of tolerogenic peptides that can bind MHC class I or II molecules without further processing and their uses in pharmaceuticals and in hypersensitivity disorders

A method for selecting a tolergenic peptide comprises obtaining a plurality of peptides; analyzing the capacity of the peptides to bind MHC class I or II molecules and then selecting a peptide which is capable of binding to an MHC class I or II molecule without further processing. Preferably the peptides comprise a T cell epitope. The tolergenic peptides selected can be used in preparing pharmaceutical compositions preferably for preventing or treating a hypersensitivity disorder. Also described are myelin basic protein peptides selected from 30-44, 80-94, 81-95, 82-96, 84-98, 110-124, 130-144, 132-146 and 133-147. These peptides and myelin basic peptide peptides 83-97 and 131-145 can also be used in a pharmaceutical compositions.
