SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING MULTIMEDIA BROADCAST/MULTICAST SERVICE IN NON TRACKING AREA

PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing MBMS in an NTA(Non Tracking Area) is provided to offer MBMS to a UE(User Equipment), which exists in an NTA, at a minimum of signaling. CONSTITUTION: A UE(410) in an NTA selects a cell and transmits an RRC connection request message to a TRNC(Target Radio Network Controller) in order to continuously use the present MBMS(430)(511). The TRNC(430) sends an authentication request message to an SGSN(Serving GPRS Support Node)(440) for the authentication of the UE(410)(513). The SGSN(440) executes an authentication operation for the UE(410) and transmits an authentication confirm message to the TRNC(430) with an authentication result(515). Based on the authentication result, the TRNC(430) checks whether MBMS can be provided for the UE(410) continuously(517). In case that the authentication for the UE(410) is successful, the TRNC(430) transmits an RRC(Radio Resource Control) connection reject message to the UE with MBMS identifiers and RB information so that the present MBMS can be continuously provided(529).
