PURPOSE: A method for searching a still image file in an optical disk device is provided to detect color tones for plural still image files recorded on an optical disk, and to link file names of still images corresponding to each color tone to store/manage as file search information, then to output a file name of a still image relative to a selected color tone through an OSD image, thereby simply searching/reproducing the files by using the color tones. CONSTITUTION: If a DVD is inserted(S10), a microcomputer stores recording position information on still image files and still image file names(S11). The microcomputer detects color tones of still images(S12), and stores the color tones by linking with the file names of the images(S13). When a color tone detection is completed for all the still image files(S14), the microcomputer stores/manages color tone information and recording position information as file search information(S15). If a user requests a still image file search mode(S16), the microcomputer outputs an OSD image to confirm whether optional color tone information is selected through the OSD image. If a blue color tone is inputted(S17), the microcomputer reads a file name linked with the blue color tone, and outputs the file name in list type(S18).
