PURPOSE: A tape printing device and a tape cartridge are provided to create a label to be attached to an object by including an area setting unit, a printing unit, and a cutting unit. CONSTITUTION: A tape printing device prints a translucent printing tape, cuts the printed tape in a width direction of the printing tape, and creates a label to be attached to an object. The tape printing device includes an area setting unit, a printing unit, and a cutting unit. The area setting unit sets a print area in which printing is performed by marking off the printed tape part parallel to its longitudinal direction. The print unit prints the print area. The cutting unit cuts off the printed tape part. The area setting unit sets the print area such that the print area is overlaid with a non-print area which is a non print part when the label is attached around the object from an edge part of the printed part in its width direction.
