PURPOSE: A mobile terminal unit is provided to enhance the operability of a mobile terminal by making the first screen displayed on a display unit and the second screen displayed on the display unit different. CONSTITUTION: A rotation detector(64) detects a state in which the first housing is opened and closed, a state in which the first housing is rotated by 90 degrees clockwise from the closed state and a state in which the first housing is rotated by 90 degrees counterclockwise from the closed state, and outputs a corresponding signal to a CPU(62). The CPU(62) receives the signal from the rotation detector(64) and determines whether the mobile terminal is in the closed or opened state and a rotational direction of the first housing. A ROM(66) preserves an application initiated based on the decision of the CPU(62) with respect to the state or rotational direction of the first housing and other applications. A RAM(68) preserves information on whether the first housing is in the closed or opened state. A radio unit(70) and an antenna unit(72) are used to transmit and receive signals to and from a base station wirelessly.
