PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body frame capable of ensuring the strength without increasing the size of the frame in order to control buckling, and reducing the shock deceleration generated when the buckling is started. SOLUTION: Any recess need not be formed in a frame member 12 by providing a load applying means 13 to apply loads in two directions substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of a frame 12 and at least opposite to each other when shock reception is predicted or shock is received on a tip portion of the frame member 12 at a front or rear portion of a vehicle body. Buckling of the frame member is controlled by applying the load in two directions substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the frame member and at least opposite to each other when shock reception is predicated or shock is received, and any recess need not be formed in the frame member. Therefore, the strength of the frame member can be ensured without increasing the size of the frame member in order to control buckling, and the shock deceleration generated when buckling is started can be reduced.
