PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of opening/closing a head unit and an outer cover while eliminating labor or troublesomeness by bringing the head unit and the outer cover simultaneously into open state or closed state through single operation. SOLUTION: When the outer cover 50 of a printer is opened, a head unit 31 is opened simultaneously through an opening and closing interlock mechanism while having a pivot play and thereby an ink ribbon cassette replacing space is ensured between the outer cover 50 and the head unit 31. At the same time, impression by a damper member 54 is released and a thermal head 30 becomes level. When the outer cover 50 is closed, first and second shafts 29 and 32 of the interlocked head unit 31 are stopped at the first and second grooves 28 and 37 in a body frame 13.
