PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent defective molding of a valve element seat due to the fluid resistance of plastic during injection molding a valve element. SOLUTION: A soft seal gate valve comprises a valve body 1 having an inlet flow path 2 and an outlet flow path 3 inside and a valve chamber 4 vertically extending from the axes of both flow paths, and the valve element 5 for opening/closing both flow paths with forward/backward movement along the inner wall of the valve chamber 4 and a cover 9 fixed to the upper part of the valve body 1 for pivotally supporting a stem 7 engaging with the valve body 6. To the valve element 5, a seat 13 is integrally fitted which has a circular seal portion 14 fitted to the upper peripheral face of the valve body 6 and a U-shaped seal portion 15 fitted to the axial outer face of the valve body 6 and adapted to be pressed against a valve seat 16 of the valve body 1 during closing the valve. The seat 13 has a protruded portion 17 provided inside the bottom of the U-shaped seal portion 15 and protruded on the axes of the flow paths in both direction and a recessed groove 24 formed all over both side faces with both upper ends 23 opened inside.
