PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excavating tool capable of excavating well while smoothly discharging excavated sediment. SOLUTION: This excavating tool 10 has a tool body 11 with the proximal end part connected to a rotationally driven spiral rod; a plurality of holder parts 13 mounted to the outer peripheral surface of the tool body 11; and a plurality of cutter parts 14 rotatably connected to the holder parts 13 and having diameter enlarging/reducing function, and cutting edge parts 21 provided at the tips of the cutter parts 14. Inclined guide faces 18, 22 for guiding the sediment excavated by the cutter parts 14, from the tip part of the tool body 11 toward the proximal end part are formed at the holder parts 13 and cutter parts 14, and in the diameter enlarged state of the cutter parts 14, at least part of the cutting edge parts 21 provided at the respective cutter parts 14 is provided to describe circles of different loci from each other around the rotating shaft of the tool body 11.
