PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic instrument for suitably utilizing peripheral unit information concerning peripheral units which are not connected to a main bus and are not accessed from a main controller. SOLUTION: In the ultrasonic diagnostic instrument, a sub-controller 34 mounted on a sub-control board reads peripheral unit information from the respective peripheral units 50-120 through a bus selector 32. The peripheral unit information is written into a relay register 36. By the processing, the main controller 22 reads the peripheral unit information preserved in the relay register 36 via the main bus 26, so that the peripheral unit information is utilized.
