<p>A pattern coating method for coating the surface of a sheet-like base material with dispersion slurry having solid SAP distributed in a dispersion medium, comprising the steps of disposing a rotation pattern roll over the sheet-like base material through a cover film and feeding the dispersion slurry between the sheet-like base material and the cover film while rotating the rotation pattern roll, whereby a first area where the coated layer is present thick in irregular pattern on the surface of the sheet-like base material and a second area where the coated layer is present thin or not almost present thereon can be formed by pressing the rotation pattern roll against the coated layer through the cover film when the coated layer of the dispersion slurry is formed.</p>
