The comminuting machine has an electric motor (2) driving the counter-rotating and interdigitating rotors (1) via a chain drive. The empty bottles are placed on a sloping flat surface (10) and roll or slide down it towards the rotors. A pivoted (3) arm (4) has a paddle (5) on one end to push the bottles toward the rotors. The other end has a roller running over the surface of a cam (8) to impart an oscillating motion to the arm.
