METHOD FOR DRIVING PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND PLASMA DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a driving method for stably driving a PDP even when the background luminance is lowered.

SOLUTION: In the driving method for the plasma display panel, one display field is composed of a plurality of subfields SF1 to SF11 and subfields to be lit are combined to make a gradational display; and each subfield has an address period in which at least cells to be lit are written and a sustain period in which the written cells are lit. Here, all cells lit in one display field are lit in the specified subfield SF1. Consequently, the PDP device of high display quality is realized which never causes a display error etc., even when a frequency of cell writing discharge is reduced and a contrast ratio is improved.
