PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat storage system allowing an increase in heat storage efficiency. SOLUTION: This heat storage system comprises a heat storage tank having an upper flow port and a lower flow port allowing media to pass therethrough vertically formed apart from each other and having a thermal stratification formed of the media with different temperatures formed therein, a heat source device in which the temperature of the media supplied to the heat storage tank is used as a set temperature, a heat utilization means utilizing heat supplied from the heat storage tank, and a removal means disposed between the upper flow port and the lower flow port in the heat storage tank. The removal means selectively removes the media out of the set temperature excluding those set temperature media with the set temperatures present in the heat storage tank.
