摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an identification method and identification device capable of being reduced in cost and size while easily and efficiently performing precise identification processing of a circular object as an object to be detected such as coin. SOLUTION: An irregular form formed on the surface of the circular object C as the object to be detected is detected by a magnetic sensor CSU, and a maximized or minimized peak position is detected from an irregularity detection signal waveform outputted from the magnetic sensor CSU. The time interval between mutually adjacent peak positions in each peak position is detected to determine interval data, and the kind or authenticity of the coin is determined by analyzing the interval data. According to this, the data quantity and arithmetic quantity required for identification processing are significantly reduced while making the processing hardly influenced by the fluctuation of positional relation between the coin and the magnetic sensor, and the identification processing of the circular matter is easily, efficiently and stably performed.
