PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating bath water by which contaminated high temperature water pooled in a dead space formed in a device flow passage due to switching of operation modes is discharged, superior safety is ensured by suppressing propagation of legionella, and the degradation of drain pipes with high temperature drain is prevented. SOLUTION: This bath water treatment method comprises the processes of: (A) filtering and heating the bath water by passing it through a filter and a heat exchanger for filtering and heating, and returning the bath water to a bathtub; (B) heating, circulating and washing the bath water heated to a given temperature in the heat exchanger in a circulation passage in the bath water treatment device; (C) backwashing the temperature-adjusted drain by sucking the bath water, passing part of it in the direction reverse to the filtering and heating process, then mixing it with the remaining portion for discharging to the outside; (D) circulating and washing the bath water remaining in the circulation line via a pump part without heating; (E) and backwashing the non-heated drain by sucking the bath water in the bathtub, passing it to a filter medium built in the filter in the direction reverse to the filtering and heating process, and then discharging it to the outside.
