<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for knee protection capable of preventing the occurrence of gas leakage even when a deploying and inflating air bag interferes with an accessary connected with a key. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag 40 of the air bag device for knee protection has a substantially plate shape and has a column-side wall 42 and a driver-side wall 41. A cover 48 for covering the back side of a vehicle in a region near a key cylinder is disposed near a lateral corner C on the upper edge 40a side. The folding process of the air bag 40 comprises a cover folding process and a roll folding process, and the cover folding process is performed before the roll folding process. In the cover folding process, the proximity of the corner C of the cover 48 is folded to the proximity side of the lateral center O1 of the air bag. In the roll folding process, the upper edge 40a side is wound on the column-side wall 42 side to be made close to the lower edge 40b side while the column-side wall 42 and the driver-side wall 41 are stacked and made flat. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
