<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high conversion efficiency by setting an opening voltage free from limitation by band-offset between a light absorbing layer and a window layer and by band-offset between the window layer and a transparent electrode layer. <P>SOLUTION: The solar battery comprises the light absorbing layer 3 formed of Cu(In<SB>1-x</SB>Ga<SB>x</SB>)Se2, window layer 5 formed of Zn<SB>1-x</SB>Mg<SB>x</SB>O, and transparent electrode layer 6 formed of Zn<SB>1-x</SB>Mg<SB>x</SB>O:Al or the like. Any of the band-offsetsΔE (=χ1-χ2),ΔE* (=χ2-χ3) is set to become 0 or positive.
