<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire which is suitably visible in a monitor screen by MRI. <P>SOLUTION: This guide wire 1B is equipped with a wire main body 2 having flexibility. The wire main body 2 comprises a solid wire rod (core material) which is constituted of a weak magnetic body or non-magnetic body. On the tip end of the wire main body 2, a film 3 is formed so as to cover the outer periphery of the tip end part to constitute the imaging part for an MRI image. The constituting material of the film 3 is a transition metal such as Fe, Ni, and Co or an alloy containing those.The film 3 is preferably formed by a vapor phase film deposition method. On the outer periphery of the wire main body 2 over the whole length, a coating layer 4 is formed to coat.
