PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance light-shielding performance to the incident light and return light in a channel area and a channel neighboring area of a TFT in a pixel section using a comparatively simple constitution in an electro-optic device. SOLUTION: An electro-optic device is provided in a lower layer through a layer insulation film 12 than the semiconductor layer 1a which constitutes a thin film transistor. The device is provided with a light-shielding film 11a covering at least the channel area of the semiconductor layer, and channel area enclosure sections 6a, 6b enclosing at least from an upper portion to laterals of the channel area.
