PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution capable of simply and smoothly transferring the exciting mode of a stepping motor during driving. SOLUTION: After the switching designation point of the exciting mode provided on the way of an acceleration period and a deceleration period during the driving of the motor is sensed, the exciting mode is transferred from a quarter step to a half/full step based on the coincidence signal of a coincidence signal generator circuit for detecting a point for bringing a phase position in the exciting mode, immediately before the transfer and a phase position in the exciting mode after the transfer into coincidence. The exciting mode can be smoothly transferred while step-out in association with the transfer of the exciting mode is prevented in association with the transfer of the exciting mode.
