PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid cosmetic having low affinity to water, giving little physical stimulation in use and effective for protecting the skin from ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet-protecting cosmetic is an oily cosmetic exhibiting fluidity at 25°C under 1 atm and containing (1) 30-60 wt,% metal oxide such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and (2) 0.1-5 wt.% branched fatty acid such as isostearic acid. The metal oxide is preferably surface-treated with a surface-treating agent such as hydrogen methylpolysiloxane and has an average particle diameter of preferably≤1μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
