PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the built-in electric component of surveying equipment, in which the electric component is set timely to an electric power saving state, to easily return to a normal state from the electric power saving state at desired time without operating any key. SOLUTION: The electronic surveying equipment is provided with a CPU (40) that can be switched between a normal mode and a standby mode, a timer (50) which sets the duration of the standby mode, and angle measuring sections (33 and 34) which detect the angle of rotation of a collimator. The CPU (40) is switched to the standby mode when the outputs from the angle measuring sections (33 and 34) do not change for a prescribed period of time or longer and reset to the normal mode after the duration set by means of the timer (50) elapses. When a key entry from a keyboard (30) or input from external equipment (44) is detected, the CPU (40) also resets to the normal mode from the standby mode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
