PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the process of plugging a filter, the deterioration of a service life and the backflow of fuel which is not filtered. SOLUTION: A filter assembly 20 comprises a housing 23 and an inner post 45 having a fluid inlet passage 102 extending into the housing 23. An outer post 46 surrounds the inner post 45 to define a fluid outlet passage. A filter cartridge 42 is received round the inner post 45 and the outer post 46. To seal between the inner post 45 and a first end plate, a first seal portion 71 is received in a first opening portion. To seal between the outer post 46 and a second end plate, a seal portion is received in a second opening portion. The housing 23 and the filter cartridge 42 define an outer cavity portion 54.
