PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function management program with which function management is effectively performed in a network to which a single apparatus mounted with a plurality of functions in compliance with the SBP-2 protocol is connected via the IEEE 1394 bus. SOLUTION: In the function management program, the computer of an apparatus for managing a function in the network 6 specified by the IEEE Std 1394 standard and its related standards in which the single apparatus 4 mounted with a plurality of the functions in compliance with the SBP-2 protocol, is functioned as: a means for discriminating a function to be used among a plurality of the functions of the single apparatus 4; a means for starting only the required functions after the discrimination; and a means for unitarily managing each started function.
