<p>An image processing device and method which can preferably be used when converting a wide dynamic range image having a pixel value dynamic range wider than normal into a narrow dynamic range image having a narrower pixel value dynamic range and emphasizing a contrast. In step S1, a wide DR luminance image of the current frame input is converted into a narrow DR luminance image according to intermediate information calculated for the wide DR luminance image of a frame preceding by one. Moreover, intermediate information for the wide DR luminance image of the current frame is calculated. In step S2, the intermediate information on a held frame preceding by one is updated by using the calculated intermediate information. In step S3, presence of a subsequent frame is judged. If a subsequent frame is present, control is returned to step S1 and its processing and after are repeated. The present invention can be applied to a digital video camera and the like.</p> |
