<p>An optical receptacle that is installed on a printed board and to which an optical plug can be connected. The optical receptacle comprises a tubular housing body (2) and a socket housing (3). The housing body (2) has an elastic engagement portion projecting from its outer periphery and engaging with the printed board. The socket housing (3) has an engagement slit pin projecting from its outer periphery and engaging with the printed board. A ground pin is therefore not required. The optical receptacle can be installed on the printed board without melt-joining a ground pin to the board, so that the optical receptacle can be easily installed on the printed board.</p>
