<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a document easy to read while maintaining the speediness of a scroll display. <P>SOLUTION: A character display device is equipped with a display part (display panel 47) capable of making a scroll display of a character string exceeding the number of characters which can be displayed at a time in a display area of a display part, a break decision part 103 which decides a specified break of a character string, and a speed decrease part 104 which decreases a scroll speed under a specified condition. When the break decision part 103 detects a break of a character string reaching a specified position in the display area as it is sequentially moved by scrolling, the speed decrease part 104 decreases the scroll speed from a 1st scroll speed faster than a specified level to a 2nd scroll speed at which the character string is readable for a specified time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
