<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor with high CO poisoning resistant performance. <P>SOLUTION: A first electrode 3 is provided on one surface of a proton conduction layer 1 while a second electrode 5 is provided on the other surface of the conduction layer 1 so as to confront the first electrode 3. The first and second electrodes 3 and 5 are each a porous electrode provided with a catalyst layer formed of carbon powder carrying Pt on a surface of carbon paper, and the catalyst layer is provided on a side contacting with the conduction layer 1. The carried amount of the Pt catalyst carried by the first electrode 3 is set, for example, at 1.0 to 1.5 mg/cm<SP>2</SP>, within a range of 0.4 to 2.0 mg/cm<SP>2</SP>. A voltage can be impressed across the first and second electrodes 3 and 5 by a power supply 15, and a current flowing through the first and second electrodes 3 and 5 can be measured by an ammeter 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
