<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of preventing deterioration in the battery performance due to over-discharging without impairing the cycle characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode having a carbon material as an active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a nonaqueous solvent and an electrolyte salt.
