<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a composition highly containing a polymethoxyflavone as a functional component of citrus and a use thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the composition highly containing the polymethoxyflavone comprises using a by-product discharged from a citrus juice squeezing plant as a raw material by one-stage process of adsorption using an adsorbent and selective separation. The method comprises adding slaked lime to stained lees discharged from a citrus juice production process and pressing the lees to give peel juice or concentrating the peel juice to give molasses, using the peel juice, the molasses, or the like, as the raw material, adsorbing the polymethoxyflavone on an adsorbent, selectively separating the polymethoxyflavone by removing impurities by washing with water, washing with a water-containing alcohol having 20-50% alcohol concentration and elution of the objective compound from a highly concentrated alcohol eluate to prepare the composition highly containing the polymethoxyflavone.
