PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the noise of an outdoor unit by suppressing vertical swirl. SOLUTION: This outdoor unit for an air conditioner comprises a box-shaped casing 1 having air suction ports 7 and 7 in at least two surfaces, a heat exchanger 5 disposed in the casing 1 at a position corresponding to the air suction ports 7 and 7, an axial fan 6 disposed on the casing 1, and a bell mouth 12 disposed on the outer peripheral part of the axial fan 6. A fan motor 11 as the drive source of the axial fan 6 and a motor support table 13 supporting the fan motor 11 are disposed in the heat exchanger 5 on the suction side of the axial fan 6. Upper and lower straightening plates 14 and 15 leading sucked air flow W passed through the heat exchanger 5 and the motor support table 13 to the axial fan 6 are installed on the upper and lower sides of the axial fan 6 so that the vertical swirl which was produced on the upper and lower sides of the axial fan can be effectively suppressed.
