PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance spherically dividing performance in the fusion of a low-melting metallic element in a protection element having a heating element and the low-melting metallic element and fusing the low-melting metallic element by the heat generation of the heating element. SOLUTION: The protection element 1A has the heating element 6 and the low-melting metallic element 4 on the substrate 2, fuses the low-melting metallic element 4 by the heat generation of the heating element 6, and a region where the low-melting metallic element 4 floats from a primary coat (for example, an insulating layer 5) is formed, and when an area of the cross section of the low-melting metallic element 4 interposing the region between a pair of electrodes 3a, 3b and a pair of electrodes 3b, 3c for the low-melting metallic element 4 is represented by S (μm<SP>2</SP>), and the floating height of the floating region is represented by H (μm), the relation of S and H is represented by H/S≥5×10<SP>-5</SP>.
