PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin optical disk drive which can cope with the slimming of a portable computer. SOLUTION: This slim optical disk drive comprises a spindle motor for rotating an optical disk, an optical pickup that is made to access the optical disk, a driving unit 200 provided with a connection board connected with a computer 100, and a control board 300 which is separated from the driving unit 200 and is connected to the connection board through an interface device of the computer 100 to control the driving unit 200. This can copes with the thinness of the portable computer 100 mounted with the slim optical disk drive as well as realizing the thinness of the slim optical disk drive by separating the control board 300 from the driving unit 200.
