PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the cracking of an upper rubber layer 12 even when a belt B is taken up on a small pulley, and to elongate the life while securing the basic performance of the cogged V belt B, with respect to the cogged V belt having the upper rubber layer 12 at an upper side and a lower rubber layer 13 at a lower side with respect to a core wire 10, and a number of cogs 13 extended in the belt width direction and arranged in the belt longitudinal direction on a lower face of the lower rubber layer 13. SOLUTION: The elastic modulus of the upper rubber layer 12 positioned at the upper side of the core wire 10 is smaller than that of the lower rubber layer 13. The upper rubber layer 12 has at least one cord layer 20 formed by connecting a number of pieces of weft 22 extended in the belt width direction, in a state of being arranged in the belt longitudinal direction. The occurrence of cracking is prevented by allowing the upper rubber layer 12 of low elasticity to be easily bent, while securing the side-pressure resistance of the entire belt B by the lower rubber layer 13 of high elastic modulus, and the deflecting energy (heat generation) is reduced by reducing the flexural rigidity of the belt B, which reduces a thermal deterioration speed (hardening speed) of the rubber, and elongates the life of the cogged V belt B.
