PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel pipe pile working method capable of smoothly making press-in of a steel pipe. SOLUTION: In the steel pipe pile working method to form a pile body by installing a steel pipe 1 in the ground, an excavation wing 10 is mounted to a position of the lower end of the inside of the steel pipe 1, a sludge pump pipe 2 is inserted inside of the steel pipe 1 to pass through the excavation wing 10, and the sludge pump pipe 2 is placed in a state to separate the steel pipe 1 from the excavation wing 10. Torque is given to the steel pipe 1 to rotate the excavation wing 10 together with the steel pipe 1, and while excavating the inside of the steel pipe 1 by the excavation wing 10, excavated soil is absorbed by the sludge pump pile 2 to remove it from the inside of the steel pipe 1.
