OPTICAL INTERFERENCE TYPE COLOR DISPLAY AND OPTICAL INTERFERENCE TYPE MODULATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical interference type color display capable of making a multicolor or full color effect without necessitating the execution of a complicated treatment step.

SOLUTION: The optical interference type color display has a color filter substrate, a patterning supporting layer, a plurality of 1st electrodes, a plurality of optical films and a plurality of 2nd electrodes. The patterning supporting layer and the 1st electrodes are arranged above the color filter substrate so that the patterning supporting layer is provided between the 1st electrodes. The optical films are arranged on the 1st electrodes. The 2nd electrodes are arranged above the 1st electrodes and supported by the patterning supporting layer so that air gaps having the same thickness are formed between the whole pair of the 1st electrodes and the 2nd electrodes. The air gaps between the 1st electrodes and the 2nd electrodes become same to simplify the manufacturing process.
