<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building material expressing a clear wood grain pattern using synthetic resin and combining both strength and machining easiness. <P>SOLUTION: This building material is provided with a hollow cylindrical steel pipe 1, an intermediate synthetic resin layer 3 covering the outer surface of the steel pipe 1 through an adhesive 2, and an outer synthetic resin layer 4 of wood grain pattern covering the outer surface of the intermediate synthetic resin layer 3. The building material is bendable and free from the occurrence of a whitening phenomenon and separation in machining.
