A polyester film (I) comprising at least one base layer (B) and at least one matt covering layer (A) is characterized in that the layer (A) contains particles having an average particle diameter, d50 of 2-10 mum and a SPAN98 value of no greater than 2 and the layer (A) comprises a polyester containing 4-30 mol.% isophthalic acid (with respect to the total quantity of polyester in the layer).
