<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape drive for determining whether a leader block has been correctly housed in a cartridge in unthreading processing of the magnetic tape device. <P>SOLUTION: Even though a TP-A sensor 9 detects a threader arm 6, it is not determined that the leader block has been completely latched to the cartridge. Thus the threader arm 6 is transported, after the TP-A sensor 9 detects the threader arm 6, in the direction of a TP-B sensor 11 for a fixed period of time by force weaker than normal cartridge leader block latch force to confirm a change in the TP-A sensor 9. When the TP-A sensor 9 does not detect the threader arm 6, then force of the threader arm is made stronger to move the leader block 3 in the direction of the TP-A sensor 9 again, thereby performing a retry of pushing the leader block 3 into the cartridge. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
